Doctors And Your Health
I’ve read many studies that what our Doctors and the Australian Government Department of Health are trying to tell us is very much outdated and isn’t in our best interests.
I’m writing this as a follow on from one of my previous articles entitled Health where I explained my dietary and health habits. I wrote that we should be eating like our ancestors did, which has commonly become known as the Carnivore Diet and entails eating a high fat/low carbohydrate diet. This diet has been proven to lose weight and there are many instances all over the internet by people who have done so.
Contrary to popular beliefs, eating fat doesn’t make you fat, and eating saturated fats will help you lose weight. But don’t ask your doctor this because he’ll probably laugh you out of his surgery. Most doctors are still under the advice of our outdated health protocols and happy to collect the rewards offered by Big Pharma for pushing their products. Make of that what you will, or do some research of your own.
As I’m in my early eighties I’ll concentrate on what I predominately eat regularly to help the brain to function and ward off cognitive memory problems. To fight dementia I try to eat more fat in my diet, such as olive oil, avocado & mixed nuts. And of course the Carnivore Diet foods like meat, eggs, butter, cheese etc. Again, mention this stuff to your over-worked and under-researched doctor and he’ll probably suggest you book in for therapy.
Before you go about lowering your cholesterol levels because your doctor has told you it’s too high and wants to prescribe dangerous statin drugs (another article) to lower it, kindly whisper to him that your brain needs cholesterol to function properly. Statin drugs are toxic – they lower cholesterol in the brain – they delete CoQ10 needed for the heart. Also, high cholesterol is associated with a reduced risk of death. Mention this to your doctor and watch his reaction.
Do as I do, slow down and simplify your life, get plenty of sunlight, use your brain. The best way to use your brain is at social occasions. I find the most enjoyable social occasions are playing sport and mixing with other people. Get out of your lounge chair and get out of the house. Avoid spending your retirement years in a nursing home.
